Theatre Commander Condemns Killing of Humanitarian Staff, Soldier In Borno

The Theatre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Maj-Gen. Christopher Musa has condemned the killings of UN humanitarian staff and a soldier at the Damboa military base in Borno state.

According to him, the rouge soldier killed his colleague with the injury of the co-pilot of the UN Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS).

The Assistant Director, Army Public Relations of OPHK, Major Samson Zhakom, stated, yesterday (Friday), in Maiduguri that; “We regret to inform the public of a sad incident at one of our military bases today in Damboa.”

He added that the ground troops immediately neutralized the rampaging soldier, after injuring the co-pilot of the helicopter.

The injured co-pilot, he noted, has been stabilized while the body of the deceased has been moved to the 7 Division Hospital.

He said that investigation into the incident has commenced with subsequent remedial actions to prevent future occurrences.
