The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) has given his assurance to the people of Urueffong/ Oruko that will turn the area to oil palm belt when he becomes Governor next year.
He gave the promise at the flag off of his local government areas campaign tour on Tuesday November 15, 2022 in Urueffong/ Oruko.
The governorship hopeful while addressing the people at Government Primary School Oyubia noted that Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration was already revamping the defunct Akwa Palms and that if elected into office in 2023, he will ensure the completion of the revamping process so that the people of the area in particular and the state in general will reap the full value chain benefit accrued to it. He said he will provide the people with seedlings that will take barely a year to yield. On the modalities to turn the area to oil palm belt, he said old palm trees will be pull down and replace with new ones working in conjunction with agriculture extension officers who will move from home to whom, village to village to assist the people to plant the new breed tenure seeds so that in two years, the people will already be Harvesting their palm fruits, take it to Akwa Palm and government will buy from them and with that value chain, they will go on to produce and process palm oil and palm kennel.
He promised that the area will be captured In his ARISE Agenda of agricultural revolution, rural development, infrastructural maintenance, security management and educational advancement.
” We have come to Urueffong/ Oruko to start this campaign to show that this local government has a special place in the heart of PDP and this government. We are here to tell you that Urueffong/ Oruko is properly situated in the ARISE Agenda of the incoming government. Whether it is agriculture rural development, infrastructural maintenance, security and sound education. In all these programs, Urueffobg Oruko is part of it. You are part of ARISE.
Pastor Umo Eno who had his wife Mrs Patience in his campaign train, said he was abreast with the problem if the area and will solve it. ” You didn’t have to request for the Oyubia- Assang Road to be constructed, I promise that the road being a major link to the economic hub of this local government will be done”.
Beyond the roads, and being a fishing settlement, the PDP gubernatorial candidate equally promised to remodel the beach into a fish market of international standard. Stressing that he has already done a survey on that, to turn the beach into a fish market. ” I want to guarantee you that we will renovate that beach to become a fish market and we will put some facilities there to preserve your produce so it does not get spoilt “.
On education and healthcare, he said he will not only continue with the free and compulsory education but will go a step further to provide uniforms and shoes to the children. While in the area of healthcare, he promise to continue with the legacies Governor Emmanuel by ensuring the establishment of Cottage hospitals in every ward in the state so that the rural people will access good medical facilities. He therefore enjoin the people to vote for PDP in the next election to achieve 5 over 5 (President, Senator, House of Representatives, Governor and State House of Assembly).
