LAGOS ASSEMBLY HOLDS VALEDICTORY SESSION FOR LATE HON. ABDULSOBUR OLAYIWOLA OLAWALE

Lagos State House of Assembly, on Thursday held a valedictory session in honour of Late Hon. Olawale Olayiwola Abdul-Sobur who represented Mushin II constituency.
The late lawmaker passed on Tuesday 15th, November, 2022 and has since been laid to rest according to Islamic rites. He was the House Chairman Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs.
The lawmakers eulogized the deceased at the session which was presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni.
Contributing, Hon. Noheem Adams, Deputy Majority Leader of the House, noted the event as sad and unfortunate. He described the departed as a very experienced person in legislative duties and the fact that people showed up for his 8th day Firdau prayers affirmed that he was a good man to all.
Imploring all members to keep up to date on their medical check up, Hon. (Mrs.) Lasbat Meranda, the Chief Whip characterized the late lawmaker as a good person that no one knew that his last days were near.
Hon. Olumuyiwa Jimoh noted: “This is a lesson that death comes at any time and everyone should strive to live more peacefully.”
Also speaking about Late Abdul-Sobur’s good character, Hon. Olowo Rotimi described him as a playful and funny man.
He noted that his passing was a reminder that life is fragile and everyone will leave it, no matter how big and wealthy. He added that death teaches people to become more connected with their family and to open up to them.
Hon. Kehinde Joseph described his death as a shock, given his last activities. He also tagged the deceased as a cheerful giver and a lover of both young and old.
In their separate tributes during the valedictory session, Members described the deceased member as a gentle and peace-loving man.
They extolled his good qualities and prayed to Almighty God to grant him eternal rest and protect the legacies he left behind.
Subsequently, the House passed the resolution moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade that the plaque of Late Hon. Olayiwola Olawale AbdulSobur be removed and given to the Clerk of the House, Barr. Olalekan Onafeko according to the House rules.
The House also directed the Clerk of the House to send a letter of appreciation to those who stood by them during the loss of their fallen member and to write to Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, to assist the family of late Hon. Olawale with job employment for his two children and educational scholarship for his child in school.
In another development, the House confirmed Hon. Taiwo Adio Saheed as a Member of Lagos State House of Assembly Commission, LAHASCOM.
