2023 Presidency: LCCI to convene forum for Tinubu, Atiku and Obi to present their Economic blueprint

Plans are ongoing by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industries (LCCI) to host the three frontline presidential candidates, Atiku Abubakar (PDP), Bola Tinubu (APC) and Peter Obi of Labour Party on a debate on what they have on the table for Nigerians on their economic blueprint ahead of their quest for next February 2023 Presidential election.

The LCCI Director General Dr Chinyere Almona who disclosed this yesterday (Wednesday), explained that the event would be part of the activities for the 2022 edition of LCCI’s Private Sector Economic Forum for the 2023 Presidential election.

She said the Chambers being a non-partisan private sector operator was no doubt interested in the economic agenda of the candidates and their plans to make Nigeria better. Stressing further on the initiative, Dr Almona said as part of its public policy advocacy, the chamber would continuously explore ways of creating a conducive business environment in Nigeria through positive engagements with governments at all levels. She said that LCCI had over the years, offered a platform for presidential and governorship candidates of major political parties to present their plans for private sector development in Nigeria. According to her, the Chamber has hosted series such forum successfully over the last four political transitions spanning 16 years.

According to the timetable released by the DG of LCCI, The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential candidate AND former two-term Vice – President of Nigeria will kick-start the show by presenting his economic blueprint on Tuesday September 13, 2022 at 9.30am to be followed by the Labour Party candidate Peter Obi the next day, Wednesday September 14 at 9.30am. Similarly, the All Progressive Congress Presidential candidate Bola Tinubu will take the floor on Friday October 28 at same time, 9.30am.

A statement from the Chamber’s boss indicate that the Presidential candidates forum to unveil their economic blueprint both to the private sector and Nigerians both within and in Diaspora which will take place on the scheduled dates at the Chambers Headquarters, Commerce House, Kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island Lagos will be streamed live on all LCCI social media platforms in order to provide ample opportunity for participants to ask the respective Presidential candidates questions on their manifestoes.

The DG reiterated the fact the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry remains committed to contributing to a strong electoral process that will aid the growth and development of the Nigerian economy. “The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry remains committed to a strong electoral process that will aid the growth and development of the Nigerian economy”.
