Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has won the All Progressive Congress (APC) primaries for the governorship elections in the state.
No less than 1,422 delegates participated in the five-hour primaries held at the El-Kanemi Warriors Sports Centre, Maiduguri.
Announcing the election results, yesterday, in Maiduguri, the Chairman, election and planning committee, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, said: “Having scored the highest votes of 1, 411 votes, Governor Babagana Zulum is hereby declared the winner of the primary election for the governorship held in Maiduguri.”
He disclosed that there were 1, 422 accredited delegates with 1,411 votes cast for Zulum to emerge the winner with 1, 411 votes.
On how Zulum won the primaries, Ahmadu, asked that: “Have you all agreed to adopt the voice votes to elect Zulum as your candidate?”
According to him, the delegates affirmed with a collective voice voting of ‘yes’ for Zulum become the gubernatorial candidate on the platform of APC.
Responding, Zulum said that the recent killings in the state, still remain to face more security challenges before people’s lives and property are protected to sustain peace.
