The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) is training 130 vulnerable women and groups on skills acquisitions to restore their destroyed livelihoods in Borno.
The five-day training is on scarf making and make-ups, tye and dye and beads/stone making with various perfumes.
Launching the skills acquisitions, yesterday (Wednesday) in Maiduguri, the NDE State Coordinator, represented by Usman Maiduguri, disclosed: “Today’s training of women is to restore their lost means of livelihoods during the over a decade insurgency in the state.
In the skills breakdown, he said that of 130 participants, 50 women each are in for tye and dye; scarf making and make-ups, while 30 are to be trained on beads/stone making with perfumes.
On the importance of training, Yakubu Yahaya of the NDE headquarters, Abuja said: “The training of women on skills acquisitions, is for their benefits and future economic prospects in the state.”
He, therefore, urged the women to fully participate in the five-day training to acquire various skills and trades restore their lost livelihoods.
“We pledged to provide you a financial token to commence and run your small scale enterprises in various communities,” he said.
