Zulum Inaugurates 300 Road Traffic Marshals In Borno

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has inaugurated 300 road marshals for the State’s Traffic Management Agency (BOTMA).

The training and equipping of marshals are in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for a hitch-free commuting across the state.

Represented, yesterday (Friday), at the graduation ceremony in Maiduguri, the Chief of Staff to Zulum, Prof. Isa Hussaini, disclosed that the agency was established in 2019 to adhere strictly to all traffic rules and regulations.

According to him, the road marshals will ensure discipline and sanity among motorists and cyclists to enhance generation of more revenues.

While commending the Governor, the Commissioner of Transport, Abubakar Tijjani charged the management and road marshals to live up to expectations by enforcing all traffic rules and regulations for safety.

“We’re always ready to support the agency in the discharge of its duties to save lives on roads and highways,” he said.

The UNDP representative and Head, North East sub seat, Simon Ridley, restated UN agency’s support to the state government in the transport sector development projects to save life and property.

The inauguration was witnessed by the display of modern equipment and decoration of the principal officers of BOTMA by Prof. Hussaini.
