The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) Director-General, Maj-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim has said that the scheme is to sensitize graduates on national issues and leadership.
According to him, the one-year service was designed to equip the graduates for tasks of leadership coaching and paramilitary drills in camps.
Represented by the Yobe State Coordinator, Mrs. Hafsat Yerima, yesterday (Wednesday), in Damaturu, she disclosed that the two-week orientation course provides graduates the objectives and programmes of scheme.
“During the orientation, you’ll be sensitized on topical national issues that could promote the economic development and growth of Nigeria,” she said, stating that this informed their deployment away from their states of origin.
According to her, the scheme integrates diverse ethnic, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds into the country.
She noted that this could also realize the potentials of graduates attain their individual feats in both camp and communities.
She, therefore, enjoined the 1,198 corps members of 2022 Batch ‘A’ to participate in all camp activities.
