NMCN To Setup College of Nursing Sciences In Yobe

The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has approved the setup of the College of Nursing Sciences at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Nguru in Yobe state.

The College when completed will admit 50 students each for general nursing and basic midwifery programmes.

The FMC Information, Alhaji Musa Kaku, in a statement, yesterday in Damaturu, disclosed that; “The Nguru medical centre should pay N6.6 million for the establishment of the centre to run the two programmes.”

According to him, the establishment of the College, is in line with section 14 of the 143, 2004 Act of the Federation of Nigeria.

In a letter establishing the College, it said: “I wish to convey the board’s approval to commence training of nurses and midwives at the College of Nursing Sciences,” stating that the admission of students commences in April this year.

The Council also directed the Nguru training centre to pay the N6.6 million fees into the Treasury Single Account (TSA).
