KACRAN Hails FG, Buni Over N20B Yobe Livestock Development Projects

Date:

Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has applauded the Federal Government and Governor Mai Mala Buni for awarding a N20 billion livestock development project in Yobe state.

The project is sited in the Jakusko Nasari Grazing Reserves (JNCV) in north senatorial district of the state.

National President of KACRAN, Khalil Mohammed Bello, yesterday, (Sunday) stated in Damaturu disclosed: “We considered the livestock development project; as a positive step in addressing the hardships of herders over global warming.”

He lamented that global warming has brought lingering shortages of livestock feeds and animal water points for the various categories of livestock, including cattle, camels, goats and sheep among others.

According to him, the grossly inadequate livestock feeds; has forced many herders to be moving from one place to another across the state.

He further disclosed that the livestock project, comprises a milking collection centre and palour, veterinary clinic, dispensary, aquaculture and security post.

Other facilities to be provided to complete the project include 40 housing units for pastoralists, an earth dam, a warehouse; and access roads for both herders and customers of livestock products.

Besides, he noted that if such projects could have been developed earlier by Governors from the north, the perennial herders/farmers clashes could have been prevented.
