Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State; has engaged 45 graduated midwives to run hospitals and primary healthcare centres across the state. According to him, their engagement was to scale up the manpower requirements of health institutions. Spokesman of the Governor, Mamman Mohammed yesterday (Wednesday) in a statement in Damaturu, disclosed: “Today, Buni approved the employment of 45 graduates of the Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery, Damaturu.” “After their employment they would be posted to healthcare centres that require additional manpower in health institutions across the state,” he said, noting that the health centres require additional manpower.
The Governor also reiterated that healthcare delivery remains a priority of his administration. “We would continue to provide manpower, equipment and all other facilities required to make healthcare delivery accessible and affordable to the people,” he said. He therefore charged the midwives to be dedicated to their duties and justify the confidence reposed in them. The State Government in the last two years established 105 Primary Healthcare Centers with a target of 178 in each of the wards for accessibility.
