The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 620 personnel to beef up security during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration in Yobe State. The deployment was to ensure a hitch-free Sallah slated for Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
The Civil Defense Commandant, Useni Navokhi disclosed this Saturday in Damaturu, the state capital, while briefing journalists on the forthcoming two-day Sallah. He said that the personnel are strategically positioned at various Eid praying grounds a day before the Sallah. He tasked the corps members to ensure adequate security and pre-empt any unwholesome activities that might occur. According to him, Heads of departments, units, area commanders and Divisional Officers were directed to be proactive and security conscious, “You’re to discharge your duties before, during and after the Sallah celebration,” he charged.
He therefore; urged the people to provide a credible prompt information on the movements of suspicious persons to the Command. He noted that proactive measures could also prevent any criminal activity in the state. He also reiterated the commitments of the NSCDC and other security agencies in protecting people’s lives and property.
