Gen. Yahaya Commiserates With Wounded Soldiers In Borno

Date:

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Farouk Yahaya has commiserated with wounded troops involved in an auto crash along the Maiduguri/Damaturu in Borno. According to him, nine soldiers sustained injuries, when one of their gun trucks skidded off the road to repel an attack near Jakana. Spokesman of the Army, Brig-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu in a statement yesterday (Friday) in Maiduguri, disclosed: “The troops were involved in a road accident at Garin Kuturu Thursday to repel an attack along the highway.”

He said that while responding to the distress call from commuters one of the gun trucks skidded off the road and rammed into a ditch. “Sadly, one of the Gun trucks conveying the troops skidded off the road and rammed into a road shoulder,” he said, lamenting that the vehicle however somersaulted and injured nine soldiers. He said the troops have been evacuated for medical treatment at a medical facility in Maiduguri. On the casualties of the crash, he said: “There was no fatality recorded in the accident,” as General Yahaya lauded the troops for their swift response. He urged the troops to be more circumspect during emergency operational responses.
