Army Target 3,000 Yobe Residents For Free Medical Outreach, Others

The Commander, Sector 2 Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Brig-Gen. Adamu Nura has targeted 3,000 residents for free medical outreach in Yobe. The outreach, according to him, was to mark 2021 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) at the palace of Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji Shehu Hashimi Ibn El-Kanemi. He said the celebration comprises the Friday prayers and interdenominational Church services across Army formations in the country. “We prayed for this country, our leaders and fallen heroes,” he declared. He added that other activities slated for NADCEL include the rendering of corporate social responsibilities (CSR).

He noted that the outreach of residents for the free medical care provides an opportunity enhance civil/military cooperation to restore peace in insurgency affected communities. According to him, the theme for this year’s celebration was to have a professional and ready Nigerian Army. He said that it is prerequisite for the successful counter-insurgency and terrorism operations in the region. He told the emir that the Army is to accomplish the assigned mission within a joint environment in defense of Nigeria. He noted that the outreach was to bridge the gap between the civil societies for more collaboration with the communities across the state. Continuing, he added: “Our services here today; are free of charge which includes outpatients’ consultation treatments for common ailments and disease.

“They also comprise health education, distribution of insecticide and mosquito nets, blankets and HIV counselling services,” stating that the free services encourage the maintenance of good health and to prevent other diseases. He therefore solicited the cooperation of people to ensure peace, security and the protection of their lives and property. “I enjoined you to be brothers’ keepers by preventing negative narrations that could distort the restored peace in the state,” he said. While thanking the Army, the Emir of Damaturu; Alhaji Shehu Hashimi Ibn El-Kanemi; said that troops have sacrificed their lives to the protection of lives to restore peace in the Northeast.
