Troops of 82 Task Force Battalion, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have killed 11 Boko Haram terrorists in the Ngoshe/Ashigashiya axis of Borno State. Ngoshe and Ashigashiya are border communities with Cameroon, where the terrorists had been hibernating in the Mandara Mountains in Gwoza Council. Army Public Relations Director, Brig-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu yesterday in Abuja, disclosed that; “Besides neutralising the insurgents in a fierce battle in the axis, the troops recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, including a truck laden with fuel. He said the troops had an encounter with the terrorists at Daushe, a village located at the border with Cameroon. He said the fierce encounter led to the killing of five terrorists, compelling the remaining terrorists to retreat in disarray into Mandara Mountains with several gunshot wounds. According to him, during further exploitation after the gun battle, the gallant troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing 13 rounds of fabricated 7.62mm (Special), a bandolier of 44 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) and a bag containing 52 rounds of 7.62mm (Special). In a related development, troops of the 212 Battalion had on July 1 launched an offensive against some terrorists in the Gadayi/Kareto/Gubio axis. The insurgents had been hibernating in Magumeri and Tungushe villages, including the areas in Kerenoa.
