Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State and Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) caretaker extraordinary convention planning committee, has tasked the Chief of Army Staff, Maj-Gen. Farouk Yahaya to overcome security challenges of nation. Buni gave the tasks Monday in Damaturu, while congratulating Yahaya as one of the finest military officers President Muhammadu Buhari has recently appointed. “This is a challenge to officers and men of the Nigeria Army to end insecurity to people’s lives and property,” he said.
He said that it’s a great challenge to Maj-Gen. Yahaya to overcome and end security challenges facing the country. In overcoming the security challenges, he said: “General Farouk Yahaya is suited to rejuvenate the spirit of Nigerian Army in the fight against terrorism, kidnapping and banditry. “It is now time to end the security problems confronting the nation.” Continuing, he said: “This is a turning point that could end the senseless killings of people by terrorists, kidnappers and bandits,” noting that the murderers, include those hiding under the cover of unidentified gunmen across the country. He therefore called for an improved synergy among the security agencies for them to successfully fight against terrorists and bandits in Nigeria. Buni prayed for the new army chief and other security chiefs to succeed for peace to reign in the nation.
