Troops of 152 Task Force Battalion of Nigerian Army and the air component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have killed a dozen terrorists in a community of Borno state. The terrorists were neutralized; while attempting to infiltrate the Forward Operational Base of Bula Yobe on Sunday. Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu in a statement yesterday (Monday) in Maiduguri disclosed: “Terrorists in gun trucks and motorcycles attacked our location at an unsuspecting crossing point and met their waterloos with heavy volumes of fire,” adding the ground troops swiftly engaged the terrorists forcing them to retreat; while others fled into the bush.
According to him, the troops sustained the fire fight and successfully neutralised a dozen terrorists, with others fleeing with gunshot wounds. He said other arms and ammunition recovered include a gun truck, a self-propelled gun The troops gallantly captured a gun truck, five AK-47 rifles, Gun, a self-propelled gun, a mounted QJC and light machine guns. “Sadly, during the encounter two soldiers paid the supreme sacrifice,” he said, adding that five other soldiers sustained injuries and they have been evacuated to a medical facility for treatment. The Chief of Army Staff, Maj-Gen. Farouk Yahaya has commended the troops and the Air Component for their synergy and quick response to the attack. He charged the troops to maintain the tempo to deny the terrorists freedom of action in Sambisa Forest and the Lake Chad region.
