The Borno Emirates Concern Citizens (BEC) forum has tasked the Federal Government to investigate and review the nation’s security architectures. According to the forum, the point of shifting blames on civilians is over; because of the massive killings and kidnappings of people and banditry. While lamenting incessant attacks Monday at a news conference in Maiduguri, BEC’s Chairman, Hassan Boguma disclosed: “We expressed with dismay the recurring attacks on military formations and subsequent eviction of constituted authorities in Damasak, Geidam and Mainok by terrorists in Borno and Yobe states.” He noted that the people are helpless, as there is no living soul that could invite such wraths into insurgency affected communities. The forum said that there are missing links to relax security watches that are responsible for the nation’s insecurity. “The repeating of same tactics by military and other security agencies have strengthened the insurgents in terrorism,” he warned. He therefore called on security agencies to review their adopted measures of protecting people’s lives and property. He also called on the Presidency to immediately summon a national security meeting addressing the lingering insecurity to lives of people. According to him; “We suggest that traditional authorities be reviewed to have a say on security issues that sustain people’s security. On Army’s Super Camps, he said: “This forum admonished that the Super Camps be revisited by decentralizing the formations to spread into four directions,” noting that the enemies cannot have the capacity to attack at the same time and in four fronts. He said the number of outposts should also be increased to serve as an alert mechanism.
