Army Kill 14 Boko Haram Terrorists In Borno

Date:

Troops of Sector 1, Operation Lafiya Dole and 112 Task Force Battalion have killed 14 terrorists in Damasak and Ngwom/Mafa axis of Borno. The troops engaged the terrorists with superior aerial and ground fire power on April 10 and 11, 2021. Spokesman of Army, Brig-Gen. Mohammed Yerima in a statement Monday in Maiduguri disclosed: “The aerial and ground bombardments compelled the terrorists to withdraw in disarray with several casualties of fighters and their equipment.” “Sadly, two soldiers however paid the supreme price,” adding that an officer and two soldiers were injured and evacuated to a military medical facility in Maiduguri. On terrorists’ neutralization, Yerima said: “On Sunday, April 11, 2021 killed seven members of Boko Haram; supposedly lying in wait to attack our troops and innocent citizens plying the Damasak/Maiduguri road. “The troops who have continued to dominate their areas with massive clearance patrols and ambushes sprang the surprise attack on terrorists,” noting that the insurgents were threatening the peace and livelihoods of people of Damasak. He said the terrorists laid an ambush with the intent to harm troops and other innocent commuters. “They however ran out of luck as they were instead trapped and neutralized in their own web,” he said, adding that the troops continued their clearance patrol along the Maiduguri/Damasak road. In another fierce and blistering encounter with terrorists in the Ngwom/Mafa axis, seven terrorists were killed and recovered five AK-47 rifles. “The terrorists laid an ambush targeting troops along Maiduguri/Mafa road, but were however trapped, overpowered and obliterated in their own web,” he said. According to him, several other items were recovered, including suspected psychotropic substances. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru has congratulated the troops and urged them to maintain their high morale of fighting insurgency.
