Amao Begins Search, Rescue Of NAF Fighter jet In Borno

Date:

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao has arrived Maiduguri this morning to search for the missing Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jet. While addressing troops at the Air Force Base, Maiduguri he disclosed: “I’m here today in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital for the ongoing ‘search and rescue of missing fighter jet. “We lost contact with our Alfa-Jet in Borno state, while on an interdiction mission to support our ground troops in Sambisa Forest.” He added that the loss of radar contact occurred Wednesday at 5.08pm. According to him, the Maiduguri mission was part of the ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the Northeast. Meanwhile, search and rescue efforts are ongoing until the missing fighter jet is found in the forest. He therefore urged the pilots, engineers and technicians to remain undeterred and resolute in their commitments to restore peace in northeast, Nigeria. Details of the whereabouts of fighter jet or probable cause of contact loss are however; still sketchy Thursday morning. “We’ll update the general public on the ongoing search and rescue mission in Borno state,” assured Amao yesterday in Maiduguri.
