The relocation of Borno council chairmen to three Local Government Areas (LGAS) by Governor Babagana Zulum has raised more security challenges to operate. The security challenges borders on the safety of temporary council offices at Monguno and Gajiram towns. While lamenting on incessant Boko Haram attacks, the Chairman of Marte council, Jibrin Mohammed yesterday in Maiduguri disclosed that; “Three weeks after we relocated from Maiduguri to New Marte, as directed by the Governor; the insurgents struck, torching a military camp and a United Nations hub facility in Dikwa.” “The over 5,000 IDP returnees, have to flee for safety to Dikwa, 24 kilometres from the temporary council office.” He said that with the insurgency still ongoing in the Lake Chad Basin, it will difficult for council workers to operate in their respective offices. He urged the Army to take the fight to the insurgents. According to him, the terrorists had been occupying Kernoa, Kirta and Chukungudu in Marte LGA. Bukar Modu, a security guard also told The Guardian that their safety is at risk. He said that the insurgents first target security personnel before torching public structures and hospitals. He said that the terrorists are still hibernating on the shores of Lake Chad, including Gashigar community and Guzamala Forest, east of Gudumbali council headquarters.’Security Challenges Still Persist In Three Borno Councils’
