AfDB To Partner Yobe Improve Health, Education, Water Supply Sectors

The Country Director of African Development Bank (AfDB), Lamin Barrow has said that the partnership with Yobe in the health, water supply and education sectors was to improve people’s living conditions. According to him, the targeted economic sectors’ projects will be executed under the auspices of youths’ empowerment programme of AfDB. In a statement Wednesday in Damaturu, the Director General Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, Mamman Mohammed disclosed that the partnership was to fast track the recovery plans of the state government to improve people’s living conditions.

“Our partnership with the Mai Mala Buni administration was to improve water, sanitation, healthcare and education deliveries; and empowerment of youths across the state,” said Barrow yesterday in Damaturu, the state capital. He also applauded the Governor for working hard to provide accessible healthcare to the people. He said the healthcare centers that the state government has put in place could improve the quality of life of the people. Besides, he added: “The AfDB will continue to support the Governor in the implementation of health, education and water supply projects in 17 council areas. “We’re also considering the development of agricultural projects along the Kumadugu/Yobe River Basin to ensure food security and farmers’ increased incomes.”
