The Borno State Police Commissioner, Bello Makwashi has warned residents against violation of curfew and use of government number plates in Maiduguri. According to him, there is a deliberate refusal of some individuals to comply with the state government’s 10pm-6am curfew in the metropolis. Makwashi, in a statement yesterday (Tuesday) of the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edet Okon disclosed that the eight-hour daily curfew was to prevent incessant Boko Haram attacks on residents. “It was not to restrain people from commuting in the night, but protect their lives and property in the metropolis,” he said. On illegal use of government vehicle number plates, he said: “There are reports of unauthorized use of Borno State Government House (BOGH) number plates. “The police also observed vehicles with tinted glasses; as their owners could have ulterior motives,” he said. He reminded the people that the 10pm-6am curfew is still being enforced by the police. He said motorists’ use government number plates of vehicles with tinted glasses to desist from such acts, warning that they will face the full wrath of law. Continuing, he added: “There’s a ban on further sales and purchases of tricycles; particularly the ones transported from other states to Maiduguri.
