The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Police Command, CP Salami Amidu Bolaji says he is obviously aware of the escalating rate of fake news circulating in the Sunshine State that its crime rate is higher than all other States across the South West geo-political zone, and that Ondo State Police Command is no longer equal to the task. Perhaps it would have been better to let sleeping dog lie, but going by the wider coverage of the social media and its far-reaching effect, it’s proper we put the record straight. Ondo State Police Command, for today is the only State in the South-West geo-political region with the lowest and safest crime rate. And this is a record other States in the region can attest to. Policing and effective policing is the concern of all, and that is why our method is very simple, because we bring those with willing minds on board and supervise them where the need is reasonable. And this is working tremendously for the State. According to CP Salami, with this strong cooperation and assistance of the good people of Ondo State, the Police Command under his supervision is providing a formidable frontal attack and defence of the security system in the State against any pharoanic gang of criminals. It is a common knowledge that Ondo State is so large and strategically located on same borderline with some of the country’s crime-prone States, leaving the security architecture of the State in the hands of Ondo State Police Command alone can never bring as much effect as it would be with the assistance, cooperation and supports of all and sundry. Standing aloof without this support but sending out unbeneficial messages is to Ondo State Police Command a gracing of mere personal ego and an attempt at shooting wide and off the mark. If we must have a total control of the crime situation in Ondo State, we must throw away our pride and work with the Command to fight crime and criminality in its entirety across Ondo State. This State is greater than all of us. Any speculation that Ondo State Police Command alone will comfortably overrun the present crime rate in the State without the cooperation and assistance of all the good people of the State and other security agencies could only form an opinion in futility. Let us bury our differences and have same faith in our security architecture, for it is only when broom sticks are put together that it can effectively sweep and tidy a room.
