Zulum Distributes Patrol Vehicles To Secure Borno Communities

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state, has distributed eight patrol vehicles to Civilian JTF, vigilantes and hunters to protect communities against Boko Haram terrorism and other crimes. The insurgents last weekend; attacked Shaffa, Yemirshika, Sabon/Gari, Tashan Alede (port of pigs) and Debro communities and killed seven people. Several houses, shops and schools, were also torched in the terrorists’ coordinated attacks along the 55 kilometre Biu/Gombi road, While distributing the patrol vehicles Tuesday in Azare, the Council headquarters of Hawul, the Deputy Governor, Umar Kadafur, who represented Zulum disclosed that; “the distributed Toyota Hilux patrol vehicles, are in fulfilment of Governor’s pledge to equip all of you with patrol and surveillance fighting equipment. “This is also to enable you to assist the army and other security agencies fight insurgency in your respective communities.” He said they should also be always watchful, as insurgents’ targeted communities located in the south fringe of Sambisa Forest. According to him, a committee would be set up to rebuild all destroyed schools, houses, police stations, shops and market stalls. “We’ll not relent from our constitutional responsibilities of protecting people’s lives and property,” noting the state government will ever remain focused to restore peace in the state. He therefore appealed to the people to cooperate and assist the security personnel with useful information. He said the information should also be credible on any suspicious person or movements amongst you and communities. “I lauded your efforts in the fight against insurgency in Hawul council,” he noted; adding that the government will continue to support volunteer hunters and vigilantes to end this madness. He assured that the rebuilding committee will soon arrive to commence work on the destroyed property and other public structures. While thanking Government’s interventions, Hawul council Chairman, Ibrahim Hassan lauded the Governor for fulfilling his pledges to provide patrol vehicles, including the rebuild of destroyed property and public structures in the council area. According to him; the Governor gave more than requested; as eight patrol vehicles were delivered against six.
