Troops of 212 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, have killed several Boko Haram terrorists in an ambush in Tungushe community along Maiduguri/Monguno road. According to military sources, yesterday (Wednesday) in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, the insurgents were in military uniform to attack Tungushe in two Hilux vans mounted with anti-air craft guns. He said that the suspected terrorists are of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) operating along the 135 kilometre Maiduguri/Monguno road. The top military source added: “The attempted attack of insurgents was repelled by our vigilant gallant troops along the road to Monguno. “The Tungushe strategic ambush, led to heavy gun fire and killed about a dozen of terrorists in about an hour,” noting that two soldiers were wounded in the ambush. Continuing, he said: “Three dead bodies of the attackers can be seen here as our troops are still pursuing the fleeing members of the group.” He said arms and ammunition recovered from the terrorists include a gun truck mounted with an anti-air craft gun, an AK-47 rifle, buffen radio and ammunition. According to him, traces of blood were also sighted along the route where other insurgents fled in disarray.
