The Yerwa Practicing Primary School Alumni Association (YPSAA) has doubted the Justice Salami led report to suspend Ibrahim Magu from the Economic Financial and Crimes Commission (EFCC). According to the association; “We’re confident in our in-depth analysis of the suspension saga of Magu. “Magu will be vindicated following justice and fair judgment from the President’s constituted Review Committee of Justice Salami-led panel Report.” The Association’s Spokesman, Alhaji Alhassan Abubakar Sultan raised the alarm Friday at a world press conference in Maiduguri, Borno state in support of the suspended Acting Chairman of EFCC, Magu. He said that members of the alumni association decided to give the Salami led panel the benefits of all doubts. “This is because of Magu’s past records of being above board,” he declared, noting that recent happenings during and after the proceedings, has compelled the association to break its silence over suspension of Magu from EFCC. He therefore demanded through the media justice, equity and fair play in the entire proceedings and outcome of the investigation panel. According to him, the alumni association is in a better position to extol the virtues and noble character of Magu. He said that members of the association had been interacting, as colleagues, old school and classmates for over four decades. “Certainly, there is no credible testimony more than the ones coming from childhood friends during and after schoolings. Magu, according to him, is best fit to head institutions specialized in fighting corruption in the EFCC. Sultan attributed Magu’s suspension to envy and the nefarious objectives of those elements insisted on his removal from office. “They are to fulfil certain requirements within the political equation,” he alleged; noting that Magu’s integrity is still intact without blemish or any shortcomings of heading EFCC. He therefore said that their submission on the suspension should be taken seriously and all advice be heeded by the Federal Government. He urged President Muhammadu Buhari to take an informed decision over the matter, warning that as his adage says; “If you fight corruption, corruption will fight you back. And this is happening to our brother, Magu. “You’re look into the suspension saga through your glasses of equity to protect government institutions fighting corruption from being whittled down or destroyed.” He therefore queried: “With what is happening to Magu, are we not seeing the gang up by those whom he has fought team up to retaliate?”
