B’Haram Terrorists Torch Yobe Health Centre, Snatch Ambulance

Date:

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have yesterday torched a health centre with the carting away of drugs at Gumsa, a border community in Yobe. The insurgents, who burst from the Sasawa Forest along Bayamari/Geidam road, also snatched an ambulance, before torching the health facility by 10pm at the weekend. Confirming the incident Friday in Damaturu, the state capital, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Dungus Abdulkarim disclosed that; “The terrorists commenced firing gunshots into the air, to scare residents and security guards. “They targeted an ambulance and cartons of drugs for snatch into an awaiting pickup van,” he said, noting that the residents were in pandemonium; before fleeing for safety into nearby bushes. Audu Hussein, a resident of Gumsa told The Guardian that they are living in fear and apprehension. “We had been panicking, even before the insurgents struck last night,” he said, lamenting that the community had surrendered everything into God’s hands, as no one was killed in the attack. He said that they used to hear that the terrorists had been sighted about five kilometres away from Gumsa village before the attack. He added that it was unfortunate that the terrorists sneaked into the community, attacked and went freely with an ambulance and cartons of drugs.
