Troops of 222 and 144 Battalions of Operation Fire Ball of Nigerian Army have neutralized five Boko Haram terrorists in Magumeri and Yafa/Kirchinga/Shuwari axis of Borno. The terrorists were killed, while soldiers were conducting their patrols to identify insurgents’ hideouts in Sambisa Forest. Brig-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, the Spokesman of Operation Fire Ball; in a statement Tuesday in Maiduguri, disclosed that troops immediately engaged Boko Haram criminals lurking in the Magumeri and forest hideo He said during the decisive encounter, four terrorists were killed, with the capture of two rifles and ammunition. He added that a tool repair box and two motorcycles, were also recovered from the fleeing insurgents with gunshot wounds. Similarly, on December 5, 2020, troops of 144 Battalion, while conducting a robust clearance patrol in the Yafa/Kirchinga/Shuwari general areas, killed another terrorist. According to him, several insurgents also sustained gunshot wounds, before fleeing into the forest with blood stains along bush paths. While commending the soldiers, he urged them not to relent, but build on the successes recorded in counter-terrorism operations. He therefore assured the people of the Northeast region, to finally rout remnants of terrorists hibernating in forest.
