The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has supported 250 Yobe
households flood victims with building materials rebuild their
destroyed houses,
Eleven communities were submerged by floods last September, including
Kanamma, the council headquarters of Yunusari.
Executive Secretary of State’s Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr.
Mohammed Goje, disclosed at the weekend in Yunusari that; “the
submerging of communities along with destruction of many houses in
affected communities, were reported to agency for quick intervention.
He said the interventions of humanitarian agencies, are to save
people’s lives and property.
He continued; “We reached out to the affected communities and
conducted assessment of damages caused by the September floods,”
He noted that an assessment flood damage report; was submitted to NEMA
and other humanitarian partners for assistances.
While distributing building materials, he said: “We’re distributing
both food and building materials to the affected community households.
“The items, include bags of cement, bundles of roofing sheets, planks
of wood and ceilings, boxes of nails, mattresses, blankets and
mosquito nets.
“Food items were also distributed, that comprised bags of rice, maize
and bean, including kegs of cooking oil and other condiments.”
He added that other distributed relief materials, include bales of
women wrappers
