IGPs FACT- FINDING TEAM ON ENDSARS DEBACLE ENDS VISIT TO ONDO STATE POLICE COMMAND

Date:

CP lauds IGP for his thoughtful motivation

The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Police Command, CP Salami Amidu Bolaji says the Fact-finding team on EndSARS carnage on the Nigeria Police during the ENDSARS protest across the country instituted by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, NPM, mni, will remain a reference point of empathy in the history of the Nigeria Police Force.

CP Salami Bolaji said this when the IGP’s Fact-finding  team on ENDSARS destruction to the Nigeria Police led by CP Abutu Yaro, fdc, concluded its tour of  assessing the level of destructions to Divisions, Police facilities, personnel, (bereaved or hospitalized) in Ondo State Police Command.

According to him, if there was any palliative worthy of note to anyone or group in pain it was this Fact-finding visit organized by the Inspector-General of Police.

Visiting Akure, Okitipupa, Ore, Ondo, Owo and other parts of the Command to assess the level of destruction, pain and death caused by the criminal wing of ENDSARS Protest, the leader of the IGP’S Fact-Finding Delegation, CP Abutu Yaro, fdc, said, though the degree of carnage was higher, the visit is to tell the  bereaved, the wounded and those whose homes and properties were destroyed or looted that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, NPM, mni, is as bereaved as they are and has received more pain than the wounded, and so is the entire Nigeria Police Force.

“Though it would be hard for anyone to attempt to fill the vacuum this ENDSARS protest has caused the Nigeria Police Force and the Police families, it is the IGP’s belief that once a person gains a spiritual strength, it is a basis upon which to build something more positive; and so this visit is to build in you that spiritual strength that will enable you move ahead in the right direction”

He further said the IGP’s Fact-finding visit was never a time to apportion blames or seek redress against those who have caused us these untold hardship and pains, but a time to build hope and comfort amongst us and the families that have suffered these irreparable losses.

CP Salami Amidu Bolaji while thanking the leader of the delegation, CP Abutu Yaro, fdc, for his painstaking effort at heading the team to Ondo Police Command, said, the important thing about this fact-finding team is to explain, especially to the bereaved families and the wounded, the way the IGP felt about the demise of their loved ones and bread winners, the destruction and looting of properties by some disorganized youths, who so criminally unleashed mayhem on the very people they see and know as indispensable even in their own lives.

“With what the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, NPM, mni, has done by instituting this Fact-finding mission on ENDSARS debacle in Ondo State Police Command as well as in other Commands across the country, there is an assurance  in every Police officer that we are not alone, but covered by a true sense of  quality leadership”

He further said, taking a microscopic view of what happened to the Nigeria Police during the ENDSARS protest, and the demands of our services even in the face of anger, we will all appreciate the IGP’s team and their onerous task of visiting all the affected Commands across the country, saying, the irony of this, is to increase our morale as officers of an indispensable height in Nigeria.

CP Salami also said the IGP’s Fact-finding team on ENDSARS destruction of Police facilities, looting and killing of Police personnel has turned the tide of our anger to bravery and efficiency, killed the attempt of possible reprisal attacks in our minds, making us more professional and decisive in our decisions, and therefore wants every officer working under his supervision to be more reasonable and focused on the reasons he/she is called a Police officer.

He however said the visit is also a call on all responsible and well-meaning Nigerians who saw and felt our pains to help the government and the Nigeria Police Force to address the pains we suffered.
