High Court orders forfeiture of building to FG

The Damaturu High Court; has ordered final forfeiture of a building to
the Federal Government.
The forfeited uncompleted building, on 37 AV Barrack road,
Jemita-Yola, Adamawa state, had belong to Suleiman Musa Bazza.
Bazza before the forfeiture; is also a civil servant with the Pay
Office, Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.
The order followed an application by Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) against ownership of building allegedly believed to
be proceeds of corruption by Bazza, the defendant.
While passing judgment Thursday in Damaturu, Justice Hammada Isa
Dashen, disclosed that; “Sequel to September, 2018 petition by
concerned citizens of Yobe State; alleging criminal diversion of
public funds against the defendant, the Maiduguri Office of EFCC
discovered in the course of its investigations that Bazza, took unfair
advantage of his position.

He added that the defendant, allegedly diverted money belonging to the
federal government for the procurement of a landed property, the
uncompleted building.

Having earlier secured an interim forfeiture order on property,
prosecution counsel, Al’Qasim Ja’afar, yesterday urged the court to
grant his application for a final forfeiture.

His application met no objection from the defendant for the Justice
Dashen to grant application.

He said the application, was in accordance with section 30 of the EFCC
Establishment Act 2004.
