CP calls for active police surveillance across Ondo State

Date:

AS YULETIDE SEASON COMES

The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Police Command, CP Salami Amidu Bolaji says officers and men of his Command should be more aggressive, more proactive, but more professional in their coverage and patrols of vulnerable and perceived crime-prone areas across Ondo State.

CP Salami said this during a weekly briefing with Area Commanders, DPOs and HODs under his supervision.

He told them that concentrations should be more on banks, commercial and worship centres; as well as fun-seeking places to avoid a repeat of the 2020 Ile-Oluji experience where some banks were ransacked and our officers killed by some horrendous armed bandits.

CP Salami further said with the #ENDSARS saga in the State where a Correctional centre was forcefully broken into, and some deadly criminals released, we have a lot on our hands to contend with than in normal yuletide period.

“Our small victory over #ENDSARS from the streets of Ondo State should not be seen as our victory over crimes and criminality, but an incentive to continue our war against the darker forces of crime and criminals within and around the State”.

CP Amidu Bolaji also said, let us not allow the judgment of those criminals who murdered our colleagues in extreme cold blood, those who criminally intended to turn Ondo State into a jungle of senseless killing, looting and destructions with audacious impunity deter our resolve to properly police the State.

He further added, we must remember that when Ember Months come, days and weeks seemed merged in a continuous flow at an ever accelerated speed, and so do crimes and criminality flow with it,and this is always the time that gives us much work to do. But now with the outcome of the #ENDSARS protest, the very texture of time is altered for us; our normal boundaries are now distinct, meaning we should be ahead of our time and space, if only we intend to put back the legacy of our profession, and our core mandate of protecting lives and property in place.

He also said, to achieve this goal, we must devote all our energy to some lengthy hours of service than the usual, because Ember months are here again.

CP Salami Bolaji also said the good people of Ondo State should not entertain any fear for their lives and property, as the Command under his supervision is strong enough to provide them the needed policing coverage.
