Buni Presents N107 Billion Budget To Yobe Assembly

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has presented N107 billion
appropriation bill to House of Assembly for consideration and passage
into law.
According to him, the 3021 Budget would concentrate on completion of
all ongoing projects across the state.
While presenting the appropriation bill to legislators Thursday at
Assembly complex, in Damaturu, Buni said:  “The 2021 budget tagged:
“Budget of Recovery, Consolidation and Economic Rejuvenation,” is to
create an enabling environment for youth’s empowerment.
“It will also accelerate restoration and improvement of livelihoods
for the entire citizenry.”
He said next year’s budget increased by 17.2% or N21 billion over last
year’s N86.01 billion appropriation bill.
On this year’s budget performance, he said: “After reviewing 2020
budget over coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we recorded budget
performances of 69.11 per cent.”
He continued: “Out of N107 billion, N63.2 billion or 59.5% has been
earmarked for recurrent expenditures; while N43.81 billion (40.5%) is
earmarked to finance capital expenditures,” assuring that the
International Cargo Airport, Trailer Park, Potiskum and modern markets
in Damaturu, Gashua, Nguru and Potiskum are to be completed.
He added the road projects of Damagum/Gubana and Nguru/Bulanguwa and
township roads in Damaturu, Gashua, Geidam, Nguru and Potiskum are to
be completed next year.
While pledging additional roads, he said: “This administration also
intends to build additional inter and intra township roads across the
state,” adding that the state government will distribute various
empowerment packages for the teeming youths.
According to him, the empowerment packages could realize the dreams of
youths to achieve economic prosperity.
He said to achieve this, state government will collaborate with
federal government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
This is why he said the economic sector has been earmarked N54.46
billion, while the social sector will gulp N22.43 billion.
In a breakdown of budget, he said that Housing and Property
Development Ministry took the lion’s share of N8 billion, while the
Ministries of Works, Commerce, Industry and Tourism, were allocated
N7.84 billion and N4.52 billion respectively.
While receiving the budget, Speaker of House, Hon. Ahmed Mirwa said
that the budget has already passed with first reading.
He said that the cordial working relationship with executive could
guarantee the dividend of democracy and good governance.
