Borno Forum Honours Ibrahim For Fighting Boko Haram, Others

The Borno Emirate Concerned Citizens Forum (BECF); has honoured the
officer in charge of defunct Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad
(BRCCF), Mohammed Ibrahim for exceptional courage and promotion of
peace amid insurgency.
The over a decade long insurgency has claimed 36,000 lives with
property worth $9.2 billion (about N4.34 trillion) in Borno, Adamawa
and Yobe states.
Yesterday’s awards of honour, brings the second by the State House of
Assembly last month in Maiduguri, the state capital.
Ibrahim, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), headed the Borno
state Police command’s Anti-robbery Crack Squad before it was later
converted to SARS since 2011 to 2020.

While presenting the award at Dujima Hotel in Maiduguri, BECF’s
Chairman, Alhaji Zanna Hassan-Boguma said that Ibrahim and his team
had achieved a lot in fighting Boko Haram insurgency, including
criminalities and kidnappings in the state..

“Their complimentary support to the Nigerian military in the counter
insurgency campaign had increased in Maiduguri metropolis and 26 Local
Government Areas of state,” he said.

According to him, the outstanding performance of the officer made him
become famous for his significant role towards returning  relative
peace in Borno.

While congratulating him, Yusuf Zannah-Bukar Mandara, a member of the
forum said that; Ibrahim’s performance and breakthrough have
facilitated a crime free and terror society.

He continued; “This award of excellence in service is quite important
and signifies your commitment to your service to humanity.

“The Forum understands that the successes recorded during your time as
the Commander of the defunct FSARS is exceptional and was conducted
with high sense of professionalism and human feelings.

“This assertion might be contrary to the perception held by others
from far away because we in Borno have maintain that FSARS police unit
is extraordinarily significant in the restoration of peace in the
state.

“You should be proud of this honour, and the Forum want you to know
that we are not only proud of you but also thrilled to see you
advancing in your career in good health and prosperity.

“We believe that your achievement have an impact beyond your
individual aspirations, since you inspire others to realized their
goals too.”

While accepting the award, Ibrahim said that he dedicated the honour
to all members of the former SARS in the state, his family as well as
the entire members of the Civilian-JTF who contributed to the
successes recorded by outfit.

“No doubt, awards are always recognition of your endeavors and
professional commitments; a source of encouragement, inspiration,
fulfillment and gratifying which boosts your spirit,” he said, noting
that it drives and rekindles new fire inside you to overcome new
security challenges.

On insurgency fallen heroes, he said: “”I also want to dedicate this
award to our men who lost their lives in the line of duty.
“I assure them that their sacrifices is not in vain. Our aim is to be
part of history of restoring peace to Borno state.
