Army Repels Attacks On Two Borno Border Communites

Troops of 192 Battalion of Nigerian Army and Civilian JTF, have Sunday
repelled attacks on Pulka and Gwoza communities in Borno.
The two border communities with Cameroon, were severally attacked by
insurgents with loss of many lives and property between 2014 and 2017.
Confirming the incident Monday in Maiduguri, the state capital; Leader
of Civilian JTF, Abubakar Kalakwa disclosed that; “The multiple
attacks commenced at about 9.15pm Sunday with sporadic multiple
gunshots,” adding that the insurgents blew up the military Pulka gate
with explosives.
He said the other group of insurgents, burst from the Guduf Hills, and
east of Gwoza to attack residents of Gwoza.
While repelling the terrorists, Kalakwa said: “The 192 Battalion and
Civilian JTF swiftly responded with heavy T7 fighter tanks and gun
trucks.
“Many Boko Haram terrorists were killed, while scores sustain various
degree of injuries,” noting that the insurgents took away their dead
colleagues towards Sambisa Forest, west of two border communities.
Ahmadu Isa, a resident of Pulka said: “No civilian was killed in the
early hours of Monday attack here and Gwoza town.
“The Army here in Gwoza; is yet to release casualty figures. I can see
billowing smoke from Pulka village, as I speak to you sir.”
The Army and Police in Maiduguri, could not “confirm or deny” the
incidents in the two border communities.
