Army Kills 7 Terrorists, Rescues Mother Of Three In Borno, Yobe

Troops of Nigerian Army, Operation Fire Ball; have neutralized seven
Boko Haram terrorists with the rescue of a mother of three children in
Borno and Yobe states.

Military operations that begun October 20, 2020, were conducted last
week to rout remnants of terrorists from Sambisa Forest, Lake Chad
region and Mandara Hills in Borno state.

Acting Director Defence Media Operations, Brig-Gen. Benard Onyeuko in
statement Tuesday in Maiduguri, disclosed that; “troops of 27 Task
Force Brigade in Buni/Gari of Gujba council of Yobe state dealt a
decisive blow on marauding Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa
Province (ISWAP) criminals.

“They failed attempts to infiltrate the peaceful town, located on
south flank of Sambisa Forest along the 130-kilometre Damaturu/Biu
road.”

According to him, the troops on high alert; fought relentlessly
forcing terrorists to withdraw in disarray due army’s superior
firepower.

He added that the unrelenting troops gave a hot pursuit and inflicted
heavy casualties on fleeing terrorists.

He said that in the decisive encounter, five terrorists were
neutralized; with the recovery of fabricated Armoured Personnel
Carrier (APC), gun truck, an anti-aircraft gun,  Rocket Propelled
Grenade Tube, PKT gun, General Purpose Machine gun,  six AK-47 rifles
with 311 rounds of ammunition.

He noted that exploitation is being carried out as the resilient
troops continue to dominate the area with aggressive patrols.

Similarly, he said on November 8, 2020, troops of 151 Task Force
Battalion deployed at Special Response Area of Miyanti in Bama LGA of
Borno State; made contact with Boko Haram criminals.

“Troops engaged the criminals with heavy volume of fire and
consequently destroyed their hideouts,” he said, adding that a woman
with three children were also rescued in the operations.

He said it was only two bicycles and other items were recovered from
the fleeing insurgents in Miyanti community.

Relatedly on November 3, 2020, troops of Army Super Camp 7 deployed in
Bama, Borno state successfully thwarted a suicide attempt on a
military post.
On female suicide bomber killing, Onyeuko said: “The vigilant troops
sighted and neutralized the lone female suicide bomber; before she
detonated her Improvised Explosive Device (IED) vest.

He added that two suspected insurgents, were also killed by troops of
Army Super Camp 11, in Bulama Lumbe and Ndufu villages of Ngala
council of Borno state.

According to him, the troops also recover an AK-47 rifle and two Boko
Haram flags.
