No less than seven residents were feared killed in fresh Boko Haram
attack in Takulashe village of Chibok council of Borno state.
The insurgents burst from Sambisa Forest, before several gunshots were
fired at villagers, while sleeping at weekend dawn.
Confirming incident on Monday; in a telephone interview in Maiduguri,
Ishaku Musa disclosed that; “Our rescue team, is still searching for
victims that fled for safety into nearby bushes and farmlands.”
The over a decade long insurgency, has claimed over 36,000 lives with
property worth N3.42 trillion property in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe
states.
He noted that Takulashe village, is prone to attacks, as the community
is located on fringe of forest.
“The insurgents launch their attacks from forest on motorcycles that
maneuver the foot paths to the farming and herding community,” he
said, disclosing that three women and four children were also abducted
and taken away on motorcycles into forest.
An anonymous village head also told The Guardian that; the motorcycle
terrorists snatched to evacuate their food items and livestock into a
pickup truck.
He noted that troops, are also stationed in Chibok town, since the
abduction of 276 Chibok schoolgirls on April 14, 2014 by Boko Haram.
During the Chibok schoolgirls’ abductions, 57 escaped shortly on that
fateful day, while 107 abductees were rescued or released after
prolonged negotiations with Federal Government.
There were global outrage and international attention to terrorists’
incessant attacks and kidnappings in Northeast region.
One hundred and twelve schoolgirls are still in captivity of
terrorists in either the forests or Lake Chad region, comprising
Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon.
