Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has supported 5,000 households
with the distribution of 750 tons of food items in three communities.
The benefitting communities of Gongulong Lawanti, Khaddamari and
Zabarmari in Jere council, were sacked by Boko Haram insurgents in
2014.
According to him, the distributed food items comprise, 5,000 bags each
of rice, maize and beans, as well as 15,000 litres of cooking oil.
While supervising the distribution Thursday in communities, he
disclosed that; “At Gongulong Lawanti, 4,000 households were provided
with various food items, while 1,000 families in Khaddamari benefitted
from the distribution exercise.”
He also directed the execution of three new projects, including
construction of eight-kilometre Gongulong/Zabarmari road, completion
of Primary Health Centre and an additional school in Zabarmari.
Zulum also visited troops of 195 Delta Company Battalion of Army in
the three communities to their fighting morale against insurgents.
While commending troops for protecting the communities from any
terrorists’ attack, he said: “My unscheduled visit today, was to
commend all of you.
“You’re sacrificing your lives to protect these communities against
terrorists that had been attacking the people,” he said.
He said that a patrol vehicle has been added to scale up clearance
operations in the Zabarmari/Khaddamari/Gongulong Lawanti axis.
Continued; “We are aware of all the sacrifices you have been making.
Some of you have not seen your families for quite some time, all in an
effort to safeguard the lives and properties of our people.
“We are also mindful of all that you have been doing, I am here to say
a big thank you,” while the soldiers cheered the Governor for the
unscheduled visit.
He also appreciated the efforts of Nigerian Police Force (NPF),
hunters, Civilian JTF and other security operatives working alongside
troops.
He therefore; prayed for the reposed of souls of those who paid the
supreme price to protect people’s lives and property in the state.
