‘How to end insurgency,others in Borno

The Ministers of Interior and Police Affairs, Rauf Aregbesola;
Mohammed Dangyadi and stakeholders; are to ‘strategize overcome
security challenges’ end insurgency in Borno.
According to Aregbesola, the adopted strategy, was how to end Boko
Haram insurgency and overcome internal security challenges of
kidnapping, armed banditry and robberies.
While unfolding strategy Tuesday at the Government House, Maiduguri,
he disclosed that; “we have met with critical stakeholders and had a
robust discussion with Governor Babagana Zulum and others
stakeholders.
“We agreed on resolutions. Our discussions is Frank and engaging,”
noting that there was renewed commitment to containing the
insurgency.”
The over a decade long insurgency, has claimed 36,000 lives with
property worth about N3.42 trillion in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states.
He said stakeholders on consultations with various security agencies,
decided to coordinate ‘undisclosed new engagements” of ending
insurgency and other criminal activities.
“Enough is enough,” he declared yesterday before the Stakeholders and
security agencies from the military, civil defense and Civilian JTF.
He said the stakeholders and security agencies, are reviewing the
entire process of engaging these criminals.
According to him; the insurgents and criminals, are disturbing the
people by spreading what he described as; “grief and misery in camps
and host communities of Borno state.”
While implementing adopted strategies, he said: “There is need for
collaboration among all security agencies like military, police,
paramilitary and other stakeholders who were involved in the fight
against insurgency.
“We agreed that from State Government to the Federal government, we
must improve funding of security agencies.
“We must also improve their logistic supports and encourage the people
to give adequate support to the state forces that are involved in this
exercise,” noting that there will be difference in approach to the
fight against insurgency containment.
He assured stakeholders that in no distance future, more territories
could be liberated for people engage in economic activities with
normalcy.
On gradual return of peace, he said: “Maiduguri, was not as it is
today, the state capital can compete favorably or even better than
many cities in terms of serenity, calmness and prosperity.
“I commend the Governor and those working with him for wonderful job
they have done to bring peace.”
Dangyadi said with the Police Trust Fund (PTF), there will be better
funding, training, intelligence, logistics and welfare of police
personnel.
While responding, Zulum urged the Inspector General of Police,
Mohammed Adamu ( IGP) to deploy abled SARS men to Borno to fight Boko
Haram insurgency
He said that SARS personnel had made a mark by using their energy and
aggression against Boko Haram.
