Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state; has warned youths against violent protests amid insurgency that claimed many lives and property in northeast. According to him, the youths are to distance themselves from ongoing #EndSARS protests across the country. Buni gave the advice Thursday, while launching the State/Guaranty Trust Bank Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) partnership office in Damaturu, the state capital. About 200 youths are to be engaged in the SDGs partnership with the State Government and bank.

While lamenting insurgency, he said: “We had in the past suffered the devastating effects of decade long insurgency,” warning that the youths should not thwart hard-earned relative peace being enjoyed in Yobe. Continued; “We’ve had our own bad times during the Boko Haram insurgency. “Those protesting in other parts of country, do not know what we went through in the hands of insurgents. “We’re all witnesses to the atrocities of these terrorists, which forced many of us from the comfort zones.”
