The Gwoza Community Youths Watch Forum (GCYWF); has tasked the Federal Government to adopt new fighting strategies to end insurgency in Borno state. The Boko Haram terrorism, has already claimed 32,000 lives with property worth $9.2 billion (N3.42 trillion) in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states. Forum’s Chairman, Mohammed Hamman Saleh disclosed this on Friday, at a news conference in Maiduguri, the state capital. He urged security agencies to intensify an “efficient new strategies” towards ending incessant attacks on Governor Babagana Zulum in the last two months, while returning 5,200 displaced persons to Baga community. “We’re extremely disheartened with repeated recent attacks on our Governor in the cause of fighting insurgents, as well as resettling displaced persons to communities,” he said. He noted that the entire youths of Gwoza, including the ones in 26 councils; strongly condemn any further attacks on Zulum and other residents in the state. Musa Garba at the protest press briefing also said: “This is a solidary protest of youths against incessant attacks on our Governor and other residents living in 24 Local Government Areas,” noting that other associations should join hands with forum in attacks’ protects. While commiserating with Zulum and families of victims, Saleh said: “We urged the Governor and his security outfits not to be deterred on the delivery of dividends of democracy and good governance. The forum also commended the Governor on return of 8,580 displaced persons to Baga, Auno, Ajiri and Kauwuri communities.
