Borno Emirates Forum Tasks NSA To End Insurgency

The Borno Emirates Concerned Citizens Forum (BECCF); has tasked the
National Security Adviser (NSA) to end Boko Haram insurgency.
The over a decade long terrorism, has claimed 32,000 lives with
property worth $9.2 billion (N3.42 trillion) in Borno, Adamawa and
Yobe states.
The forum’s Chairman, Zanna Hassan Boguma gave the task Monday at a
news conference held at Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) press
centre, Maiduguri.
While condemning multiple attacks on Governor Babagana Zulum’s convoy,
he disclosed that; “We practically solicit for our son, Maj-Gen.
Babagana Monguno (rtd), the NSA to come home and assess the level of
insecurity to lives and property.
“He is to advise the President on actionable points that can lead to
end insurgency in the state,” he said.
He also reiterated the call on Federal Government to strengthen the
nation’s security architecture by providing troops with logistics to
fight terrorists end war.
According to him, concerned citizens’ forum are mindful and appreciate
troops’ selfless struggle sacrifices to end insurgency in northeast
and entire nation.
He urged the troops to redouble their efforts to justify the
confidence reposed in them.
“They are to rid insurgency affected communities of Boko Haram
terrorists,” he noted.
On return of displaced persons, he said: “The forum supports voluntary
relocation of displaced persons to their ancestral homes,” insisting
that establishment of civil authorities in northern Borno.
He warned that failure to end insurgency, security and peace will
continue to elude the northeast region.
“We believe that Borno north is strategic to end insurgency with
lasting peace that could realize economic development,” he said.
He also appealed to the Governor to engage Islamic clerics for a
three-day prayers.
According to Boguma, Zulum should hold a security meeting involving
all critical stakeholders for way forward end insurgency.
On roles of legislators at national and state levels, he said: “We’re
calling on our elected representatives and stakeholders to support the
Governor in restoring peace in Borno.”
