The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC); has yesterday confirmed deaths
of 17 passengers in a bus that crashed into truck along Potiskum/Kano
road.
FRSC Commander in Yobe state, Yelwa Dio; disclosed that; “The accident
occurred Sunday night at Zubali village, involving a commercial bus
that crashed into the stationary truck.”
“Our rescue team retrieved 21 persons in the two vehicles,” adding
that the retrieved bodies comprise 14 males and a female, including
two children.”
He said that the bodies have already been deposited at General
Hospital, Potiskum for identifications and collection for burials.
According to him, the 14 injured ones are receiving treatment for
various sustained fractures and wounds.
He attributed the crash to over speeding, as most drivers never heed
warnings on roads and highways.
“Drivers should ensure that their vehicles’ lighting systems are
functional without any failures,” he said.
“If you must embark on night journeys, ensure your lightening system
is functional,” he warned.
He also noted that passengers must also ensure that they call drivers
to order if they are speeding. He added that if there is an accident,
they will be involved possible deaths and injuries
