The Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YOSIEC); has slated December 5, 2020 to conduct elections in 17 councils. Announcing the elections on Tuesday; at a meeting with political parties and stakeholders, he disclosed that; “Today’s meeting marks the beginning of political activities for elections in 17 Local Government Areas of state. “This election, which is slated for Saturday, December 5, 2020 are to involve all political parties, including the ruling one, All Progressive Congress (APC) with a level playing grounds.” He therefore; urged politicians to play by the rules of the game by engaging members of their parties. “This commission pledges to provide a level playing ground for all political parties,” he assured the parties. On conduct of free and fair elections, he said: “To conduct a free fair and credible election, we need a conducive environment devoid of any thuggery and intimidations.” “We’re to perfectively level playground and follow the rules of the game,” noting that this could ensure a smooth, free, fair and credible elections that can accepted by all.
