Borno to complete houses return IDPs to border communities

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state, is to fast track completion of 200 houses to return 400 Internally Displaced Person (IDP) households to Ngoshe community in Gwoza council of state. Ngoshe, a border community with Cameroon, was severally attacked by Boko Haram, displacing over 3,000 people to take refuge at Maiduguri IDP camps for six years. Zulum disclosed this Sunday in Ngoshe town, while inspecting ongoing housing project and assess required needs of other border communities affected in over a decade long insurgency. According to him, Gwoza council, was a stronghold of Boko Haram, where Abubakar Shekau, was spiritual leader of the terror group by declaring it as headquarters in August, 2015. He said that besides project inspection, he had a closed door meeting with officers and men of the Nigerian Army stationed in border community. He told reporters that the housing project, will be completed for the return of Ngoshe IDPs to their ancestral homes before the end of this year. On return of IDPs, he said: “We will liaise with the military to ensure safe return of our people. “With the ongoing efforts to complete 200 houses, the initial batch of not less than 400 people will eventually be returned into community. “We will fast track the completion of the Primary Healthcare Center as well as the primary school. “My visit is to interface with Army, and to see how we could support them,” noting that security is the responsibility of all. “We cannot leave the military alone. The civilians should also play their part,” he urged. Zulum had at the weekend; also visited Buratai community in Biu council of southern Borno. In Buratai town, he directed for construction of two mega schools and the rehabilitation of a Primary Healthcare Center. He also inspected roads and drainage works and facilities in Biu town.
