Zulum Ieturns Borno IDPs into Ajiri Community With 500 Houses

The Borno State Government has yesterday returned 2,800 Internally
Displaced Persons (IDPs) to resettle in Ajiri Community of Mafa Local
Government Areas of the state.
Resettlement exercise, also included the allocations of 500 low-cost
houses to each returning 500 IDP households that had been taking
refuge in Maiduguri camps and host communities.
While presenting letters of housing allocations to households
Wednesday community, Commissioner of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation
and Resettlement (RRR), Mustapha Gubio disclosed that N50, 000 cash
support, is being disbursed to each of the households.
According to him, 750 tons (15,000 bags) of grains, including 5,000
bags of maize grits were also distributed to resettled IDPs.
“We’ve also distributed today 10 each of blankets and mosquito nets to
returnees pick up their lives, after spending over a decade in IDP
camps,” he said.
He added that 5,000 gallons of cooking oil and 10 sets each of
clothes, cooking utensils and mats were distributed to returnees.
 Special Adviser to the Governor on Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Mairo
Mandara urged the IDP returnees to have faith in God and be prayerful.
She also urged the youths to focus on farming so as to become
self-reliant and not on humanitarian food stamps.
The Ajiri Community leader, Zanna Yakub Lawman who spoke on behalf of
returnees, commended lauded Governor Babagana Zulum for aggressive
resettlement of IDPs and the building of thousands of houses across
the state for IDP returnees.
He also urged all community members to be law-abiding and continue to
cooperate with security agencies in the fight against Boko Haram
terrorists.
