Police Arrest B’Haram Suspect, Kidnappers, 43 Others In Borno

The Borno State Police Command; has arrested Boko Haram terrorists suspect, kidnappers and 43 others in the last two months. The arrests which were in March and July, 2020 were made in Maiduguri Metropolis, Biu and Askira/Uba councils of the state. While announcing arrests of suspects Wednesday at a news conference in Maiduguri, the Police Commissioner, Mohammed Aliyu disclosed; “Alhaji Goni Mallam Mutti of Asheri area of Maiduguri, was arrested by the police for being a suspected member of Boko Haram terrorist group,” adding that the suspect confessed that he was saddled with responsibility of supplying essentials and other logistics to insurgents. According to him, items recovered, include N200, 000, five packets each of sugar and seasoning cubes, two sachets of salt, 10 packets of sugar and a solar panel with power kits. Aliyu, who was represented by Spokesman of Command, DSP Edet Okon said that three suspects were arrested for the kidnap of Umara Garba in Timowa village. “The suspect escaped, while kidnappers were asleep and reported incident, which led to their arrests,” he said, naming the suspects to include Hammadu Abba, Isa Mallam, Abdullahi Umara and Usman Manu. He added that two other suspects bugled into the office of Borno State Geographical Information Service (BOGIS) along Damboa road, and went away with two plasma television sets. On recovered property and documents from suspects, he said: “An HP Desktop computer, stabilizer and a bag containing some documents, were recovered, after Mohammed Mustapha and Hassan Umar arrests, who confessed to the crime. Speaking on cattle and rams rustling, he said that seven suspects were arrested at Gubio for rustling 31 cows of Goroma Mohammed on March 15, 2020. According to him, the suspects however claimed that they found the cattle wandering in the Diffa axis of Niger Republic. He added that three other suspects were also arrested for in procession of eight rustled cows in Askira/Uba council area. “The suspects confessed that they rustled the cows, which were 19 from Cameroon,” he said, noting that before their arrests, they have already sold 11 of the rustled cattle.
