Borno, Niger strategise to secure border communities in Lake Chad region

The Borno state and Diffa regional governments of Niger Republic have
strategized to secure border communities in Lake Chad region against
Boko Haram insurgency.
The decade long Boko Haram terrorisms, have displaced over 8.56
million people to take refuge in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)
camps and host border communities of the state and region.
While unfolding the strategies Friday in Maiduguri, Governor Isa Liman
of Diffa region, disclosed that; “We’ll continue to collaborate in our
strategies to secure the border area communities to defeat our
enemies, the Boko Haram insurgents.
He noted that; as anything has a beginning, must however, come to an
end in returning and to resettle IDPs in Diffa, Bosso, Damasak and
Guzamala towns.
He said even though the visit to Maiduguri, the Borno state capital,
was a brotherhood visitation, Governor Babagana Zulum, is encouraged
to continue with what he had been doing to secure people’s lives in
border communities of state and region.
“Continue with what you’re doing to secure border communities and
their members,” he said, noting that this is irrespective of their
nationalities and boundaries.
Governor Zulum responded that Borno state and Nigerien region, share
the same culture, religion, including intermarriages among the various
ethnic groups.
He assured the region’s Governor that they will keep this relationship
in good faith.
On returning the IDPs, he said: “Despite the economic problems you’re
facing in your region, we are to support Nigerien IDPs,” pledging that
the Borno state government will support Diffa region, with the
completion of houses under construction in Diffa.
He also told the Liman that the state government, are preparing for
the return of IDPs from Bosso to Malam Fatori, the council
headquarters of Abadam on shores of Lake Chad
