Yobe, SMLP Train 40 Doctors, Nurses On Clinical Skills

The Yobe State Ministry of Health in collaboration with Saving Million
Lives Programmes (SMLP) for results; is to train 40 doctors and nurses
on clinical skills.
While commencing training on Wednesday in Damaturu, the Commissioner
of Health, Dr. Muhammed Gana; disclosed that; “Other collaborating
health organisations, include London Professional Training Centre
(LPTC) and the International Health Organisation (IHO).”
According to him, the training was to improve the quality of
healthcare services provided in secondary and tertiary health
facilities in the state.
He said that the state government has partnered with LPTC for the
supply of equipment and the training of our healthcare professionals.
He explained the three-day training, is on use of health facilities
and equipment, including their maintenances for longevity.
His words: “The centre will also help the state to identify inputs
gaps in its healthcare delivery system of various health facilities
sited across the state.
“It will also update quality of health service deliveries to meet the
World Health Organisations (WHO) standards.”
LPTC’s leader, Mrs. Nkiruka Okafor, said that the training and
delivered and medical equipment are to upgrade healthcare delivery
services to the people.
On bridging State’s healthcare gaps, she said: “We came here to
identify the gaps that exist in the Yobe’s health sector.
“We’re to lead them to bridge the gaps and to get all the hospitals
accredited with IHO.
“This mean the facility should be able to deliver services equal to
the standard of United Kingdom,” she said.
She also solicited for partnership with other state governments in the
country to benefit from the same programme.
Philip Umaru, one of the participants at the training from General
Hospital, Potiskum, said that the training would improve service
delivery skills to their patients in various facilities in the state.
